Roles of CTA

  • Roles of CTA-Tech
    • CTA-Tech Chair
      • Co-leads the overall activities of the CTA w/ the CTA-Gov Chair
      • Manages the work of the CTA-Tech in support of CTA functions
      • Is a member of the CTA-Gov
      • Selects CTA-Tech members in consultation with CTA Gov Chair and ITGSC Chair
      • In partnership with CTA-Gov chair ensures meeting attendance at other ITG subcommittee meetings as a mechanism to understand projects and progress of ITR initiatives
    • CTA-Tech Members
      • Provides expertise and guidance on technologies and architecture to inform decision making of the CTA-Gov
      • Reviews and approves service line architectures and overall architectural roadmaps
      • Reviews and assists with the development of proposals for ITGSC funding for architectural projects
      • Recommends formation of additional committees or work groups to support the work of the CTA
      • Expect to contribute 10-15 hours per month
  • Roles of CTA-Gov
    • CTA-Gov Chair 
      • Ensures the goals of the UCSF mission are represented in the CTA discussions and recommendations
      • Leads proactive discussions about emerging approaches in architecture
      • Moderates the discussion within the committee and builds consensus for future directions
      • Selects CTO-Gov members in consultation with CTA-Tech Chair and ITGSC Chair
      • In partnership with CTA-Tech chair, ensures meeting attendance at other ITG subcommittee meetings as a mechanism to understand projects and progress of ITR initiatives
    • CTA-Gov Members 
      • Ensures the goals of their UCSF mission area are represented in the CTA discussions and recommendations;
      • Communicates updates to departmental IT units and UCSF IT;
      • Provides two-way feedback on architecture recommendations, specific initiatives, and architecture-related issues to other ITG committees;
      • Expect to contribute 3-5 hours per month to prepare for, participate in meetings and complete follow up as needed.

The CTA-Gov meets regularly to review and discuss relevant initiatives and projects. The committee will maintain departmental and UCSF IT representation in order to achieve its charge and facilitate collaboration across the mission.  The CTA-Tech meets more frequently (at least monthly) to review and coordinate work in support of the CTA meetings.
